This is the Red Cross Map, Weather & Hazard, Data and Services Catalog home page where you will find an explanation of all the Catalogs and Weather & Hazard Centers. We hope you find them useful and will visit often.

Map Catalog

The Map Catalog is designed to serve as a one-stop Map resource for State-level Red Cross Maps as well as General (External) State maps.
Left-hand navigation area:
  • Here you will find the links to all the Catalogs maintained on this site.
  • There is a link to the FEMA Federal Disaster Declarations by State. Click on the drop-down menu, choose your State and then click "Go."
  • There is also a link, by state, to each State Emergency Management Office web site. Again, select your State in the drop-down menu and then click "Go."
Main (Center) navigation area:
  • Here you will find all of our Maps by State.
  • The Name of the State in Red is a hyperlink that will take you to the Disaster Links page for that state.
  • Under the State Name you will notice that each State grouping of Maps is divided into two sections. The top section has the Red Cross Maps and the bottom section (below the line) has the General (External) Maps for that State.
  • In the Top Section for each state there are five primary Red Cross maps for each State which include: 1) Chapter Boundaries Map; 2) Regional Boundary Map; 3) Interactive Chapter Map (this map will launch ArcGIS Explorer to view and ineract with the map. You can also add your own data to this map.) 4) Housing Breakdown Map; 5) Diversity Map.
  • Furthermore you will find a Table with the data used for the Diversity and Housing maps broken down by county. In this table you will also find the FIPS and Chapter Codes for every County. You will also find a link to the FOCIS page for the State and this link requires Crossnet access.
  • Finally in this top section there is a link to an additional page for each state which is titled either "Regional Chapter Maps" or "Evacuation & Regional Chapter Maps." On these pages you will find the State-level Regional Boundary Map as well as the individual Regional Grouping maps. For Hurricane prone states there are also Evacuation, Surge and Inundation Maps where applicable.
  • In the General (External) Map section below the center line for each state you will find several State-level maps such as Population Density, Federal Lands and Annual Precipitation. These external maps are created and maintained by the USGS, National Map.

  • Here you will find links to external sites under the various headings.
  • In the Hazard Mapping section is where you can find Risk Area maps at a national level. Look for the link with (HiRes) in the title.

Weather and Hazard Center

The Weather and Hazard Center is designed to be a one-stop-shop for your weather-related information needs.
Left-hand navigation area:
  • Here you will find the links to all the Catalogs maintained on this site.
  • There is also a link to the National Weather Services (NWS) Weather Products by state. Just select your State in the drop-down menu and then click "Go."
  • The La Nina / El Nino Index is updated monthly by the NWS and provides a snapshot of the conditions in the Equatorial Pacific Ocean.
Main (Center) navigation area:
  • This section is divided into eight sections by the most common weather hazards we face. The thumbnail maps are "live" maps which provide you a quick glance at the current conditions which can help you decide if you want to pursue a given map or hazard.
  • In the "Current & Forecast Weather" section you will find links to NOAA/NWS sites that depict Current Obeservations, Watches and Warnings, Satellite and RADAR graphics.
  • Each "Live" map is also a hyperlink to the large-scale graphic.
  • At the bottom of this section you will find additional links to Forecast and Outlook products.
  • In the "Severe Weather" section you will find links to NOAA/NWS sites that depict Severe weather, Storm reports, Convective Outlooks and Quantitative Precipitation Forecasts (QPF).
  • At the bottom of this section you will find additional links to Severe Weather products.
  • In the "Floods" section you will find links to NOAA/NWS and USGS sites that depict Flood Outlooks, Current Conditions, and Rainfall resources.
  • The Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS) link is an excellent resource for current flood conditions and hydrographs as well as potential impacts by reporting station.
  • At the bottom of this section you will find additional links to Flood Outlook products.
  • In the "Wildfires" section you will find links to NOAA/NWS and USGS sites where you can find real-time Fire weather and analysis information.
  • At the bottom of this section you will find additional links to Wildfire products.
  • In the "Earthquakes" section you will find links to USGS sites where you can find real-time Earthquake information.
  • At the bottom of this section you will find additional links to Earthquake products.
  • In the "Winter Weather" section you will find links to NOAA/NWS sites where you can find current and forecast Snow, Freezing Rain and Ice reports and graphics.
  • At the bottom of this section you will find additional links to Winter Weather products.
  • Note: The "Winter Weather" section is not available during the Spring and Summer months and is hidden from view.
  • In the "Tsunami" section you will find links to Pacific and West Coast Tsunami Warning Centers for real-time Tsunami information.
  • At the bottom of this section you will find additional links to Tsunami products.
  • In the "Climate & Air Quality" section you will find links to Drought, Climate, Air Quality, UV and H1N1 information.
  • At the bottom of this section you will find additional links to Climate products.

Tropical Hazard Center

The Tropical Hazard Center is designed as a one-stop-shop for all tropical resources for the three primary ocean basins that affect the United States and its Territories as well as the Western Pacific Basin.

  • Here you will find the links to all the Catalogs maintained on this site.
  • You will also find links to the three primary Tropical Weather Centers here.
  • If you need to know the Saffir-Simpson Scale we have an easy to read chart for you.
  • Each years Storm names are listed and highlighted in Red when that name is used. Each named storm for the Atlantic basin is also a link to the NHC/TPC Advisory listing for that storm.
  • If you're curious about how many knots 100mph is, we have a calculator for you here.
  • Finally you'll find links to all the Worldwide Tropical Centers.

  • This section is divided into four sections - "Atlantic," "Eastern Pacific," "Central Pacific Basins" and "Storm Warnings" explanation section.
  • In the "Atlantic Basin Storm" section you will find Tropical Outlook Links when there are no active storms and a wide variety links and graphics when there are active storms.
  • In the "Eastern Pacific Basin Storm" section you will find Tropical Outlook Links when there are no active storms and a wide variety links and graphics when there are active storms.
  • In the "Central Pacific Basin Storm" section you will find Tropical Outlook Links when there are no active storms and a wide variety links and graphics when there are active storms.
  • In the "Storm Warnings" section you will find detailed explanations for the various tropcail advisories.

National Level Map Catalog

The "U.S. National Level Maps" sections is divided into three sections:
  • Red Cross Atlas - Here you will find national level Red Cross maps that depict our Chapter, Regional and Division boundaries as well as national vehicle and facility asset locations.
  • National Atlas - Here you will find a wide variety of national level maps from the USGS National Atlas.
  • Weather Service Atlas - Here you will find wide variety of national level maps from the National Weather Service.
